Getting Started
What is Vesper Finance and how does it work?
Vesper Finance (also known as Vesper Finance) is a non-custodial DeFi yield aggregator deployed on Ethereum. It enables users to deposit crypto assets into smart contract-based pools that automatically route funds through leading DeFi protocols — such as Aave, Compound, and Curve — to generate optimized yield.
When you deposit into a Vesper Finance Grow Pool, you receive vTokens representing your share of the pool. As the pool earns yield, the value of your vTokens increases, meaning you earn more of the same asset you deposited. There are no lock-up periods — you can withdraw at any time.
The protocol is governed by VSP token holders who vote on key decisions such as strategy upgrades, fee structures, and new pool additions.
How do I get started with Vesper Finance?
Getting started with Vesper Finance is straightforward:
- Visit the Vesper Finance app and connect your Ethereum-compatible wallet (MetaMask, WalletConnect, Coinbase Wallet, etc.).
- Browse the available Grow Pools and select one that matches the asset you want to deposit.
- Click Deposit, enter the amount, and approve the transaction in your wallet.
- Once confirmed, your funds are live in the pool and earning yield automatically.
- You can monitor your deposits and earnings in the Portfolio section.
You will need ETH in your wallet to cover Ethereum network gas fees. No registration or KYC is required.
What crypto assets does Vesper Finance support?
Vesper Finance currently supports a wide range of Ethereum-based assets across its pool offerings, including:
- ETH — Native Ethereum
- USDC — USD Coin stablecoin
- DAI — Dai stablecoin
- FRAX — Frax stablecoin
- WBTC — Wrapped Bitcoin
- stETH — Lido Staked Ether
- cbETH — Coinbase Wrapped Staked ETH
- rETH — Rocket Pool ETH
- LINK — Chainlink token
- msUSD / msETH — Metronome synthetic assets
New assets may be added through governance proposals. Check the Vesper Finance app for the most up-to-date list of supported pools.
Pools & Yield
What is a Grow Pool in Vesper Finance?
Grow Pools are the core product of Vesper Finance. They follow a simple principle: deposit one coin, earn more of that coin. Unlike some DeFi protocols that reward you with a different governance token, Vesper Finance Grow Pools return yield in the same asset you deposited.
For example, if you deposit ETH into the ETH Grow Pool, you will accumulate more ETH over time. If you deposit USDC, you earn more USDC.
Behind the scenes, Vesper Finance deploys multiple yield strategies simultaneously, automatically allocating funds to wherever the best risk-adjusted returns are available. Strategies are regularly reviewed and upgraded by the Vesper Finance team and community.
Vesper Finance also offers Conservative Pools — designed for lower risk tolerance — which apply stricter strategy criteria.
How does Vesper Finance generate yield for depositors?
Vesper Finance integrates with a broad set of established DeFi protocols and strategies to generate yield. These include:
- Lending protocols such as Aave and Compound — earning interest from borrowers
- Liquidity provision on platforms like Curve Finance
- Liquid staking strategies via Lido, Rocket Pool, and Coinbase
- Metronome synthetic asset strategies for msUSD and msETH pools
Each pool can run multiple strategies in parallel. The Vesper Finance protocol's strategy manager allocates capital between them based on performance and risk parameters set through governance. Strategies are rebalanced periodically to maintain optimal yield.
The Earning Rate displayed in the Vesper Finance app represents the annualized return based on recent pool performance.
What are the fees on Vesper Finance?
Vesper Finance uses a performance-fee model:
- Performance fee: A percentage of the yield generated is taken as a protocol fee. You only pay fees when you earn — no yield means no fee.
- No deposit fee: Depositing into a Vesper Finance pool is free (aside from Ethereum gas).
- No withdrawal fee: Withdrawing your funds from a Vesper Finance pool is also free (aside from Ethereum gas).
Fees collected by the protocol are used to fund ongoing development, security audits, and to reward VSP token stakers through the locked VSP program. The exact fee percentages are set via governance and may differ between pools.
How do I withdraw my funds from Vesper Finance?
Withdrawing from Vesper Finance is simple and can be done at any time — there are no lock-up periods or minimum holding requirements:
- Open the Vesper Finance app and connect your wallet.
- Go to the Portfolio section to view your active deposits.
- Click Manage on the pool you want to withdraw from.
- Enter the amount you wish to withdraw (or select "Max" for the full balance).
- Confirm the transaction in your wallet.
Your funds, including any earned yield, will be returned to your wallet once the transaction is confirmed on the Ethereum network. Standard Ethereum gas fees apply.
VSP Token & Governance
What is the VSP token and how is it used in Vesper Finance?
VSP is the native governance token of the Vesper Finance protocol. It serves several key functions:
- Governance: VSP holders vote on protocol proposals including new pool strategies, fee changes, and protocol upgrades.
- Locked VSP: Users can lock VSP tokens to participate in revenue sharing from protocol fees. The longer you lock, the greater your share of protocol revenues.
- Ecosystem alignment: VSP incentivizes long-term participation and alignment between Vesper Finance users, developers, and the broader DeFi community.
You can manage your VSP holdings and lock tokens directly in the Vesper Finance app under the Locked VSP section. VSP is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network and can be purchased on major decentralized and centralized exchanges.
Is Vesper Finance safe? What audits have been performed?
Vesper Finance takes security seriously. The protocol's smart contracts have been audited by reputable security firms and the team actively monitors for vulnerabilities. Key security measures include:
- Multiple independent smart contract audits
- Ongoing monitoring and bug bounty program
- Timelocks on protocol upgrades to allow community review
- Non-custodial design — Vesper Finance never holds your private keys
However, as with all DeFi protocols, interacting with Vesper Finance involves smart contract risk, market risk, and the risk of unforeseen vulnerabilities. Users should only deposit funds they are prepared to lose and should review the available Vesper Finance documentation before participating.
Past security does not guarantee future safety. Always do your own research (DYOR).
